Benefits of using Polyfly’s hoverflies
At Polyfly, we produce several hoverfly species and currently commercialize two from the Eristalinae subfamily—generalist pollinators highly effective across a wide range of crops:
QUEENFLY® (Eristalis tenax)
- Ideal for temperate, cold, and cloudy climates.
- Active at low temperatures (between 10 °C and 30 °C), where bees and bumblebees reduce their activity.
- Excellent choice for spring and autumn crops.
- Commonly known as the “drone fly” due to its resemblance to honeybees.
- Effective under low-light and overcast conditions.
GOLDFLY® (Eristalinus aeneus)
- Specialized in warm and temperate regions.
- Active between 16 °C and 36 °C, even tolerating temperatures above 36 °C.
- Ideal for spring and summer crops.
- Golden body and spotted eyes make it easy to identify.
- Performs excellently under high temperatures and variable light conditions.
