Do the hoverflies need water and food?

Yes. Adult hoverflies visit flowers continuously in search of nectar and pollen, resources they need for their development and survival. It is essential that there be flowers available in the crop at the time of emergence. Although not indispensable, it is recommended to place water and sugar (separately) in the enclosure so that they can feed in case of low flowering.
