Place the boxes in a dry spot protected from direct solar radiation, especially during the warmer months. Avoid placing them near irrigation areas or directly exposed to rain.
Be careful with natural predators, such as ants: it is advisable to hang the boxes at a certain height, out of their reach. In areas with birds, keep in mind that they may prey on the pupae, especially during the first hours after emergence, when the adults are not yet able to fly. To support the newly emerged hoverflies during their initial activity phase, you can add a drinker with a moistened cloth and small containers with sugar, which offer a nutritional supplement as an additional source of energy.
