Polyfly at Fruit Attraction 2026 to showcase the potential of hoverfly pollination
From October 6-8, Polyfly will participate in Fruit Attraction 2026, one of the main international meetings in the horticultural sector, which will bring together producers, traders, distributors, technology companies and professionals at IFEMA MADRID.
The 18th edition of Fruit Attraction is expected to host over 2,500 companies, a 162,000 square meter space distributed across 10 pavilions and attendance of over 121,137 professionals from 150 countries. An international meeting point to drive new business opportunities, share knowledge and discover innovations that are transforming the fruit and vegetable sector.

Pollination with hoverflies for high-value crops
At Polyfly we produce hoverflies as natural pollinators to improve pollination and contribute to the yield and quality of seeds and fruits. Our solutions apply to both commercial crops and seed production and crossing, adapting to different systems and growing conditions.
We work with two species, QUEENFLY® (Eristalis tenax) and GOLDFLY® (Eristalinus aeneus), adapted to different conditions to provide a pollination strategy suited to the needs of each production.
QUEENFLY operates in cooler conditions and low light days, with an activity range between 10 and 30 °C. Its large, hairy body allows it to carry a high pollen load and make frequent visits to a wide variety of flowers.
GOLDFLY, on the other hand, is adapted to warmer conditions, with an activity range between 16 and 36 °C. Its behavior is characterized by continuous and rapid flower visits, making it an especially interesting pollinator during periods of higher temperatures.
This complementarity allows for pollination strategies adapted to the crop, climate and flowering period.
A solution adaptable to different production systems
Polyfly hoverflies can be used in different production systems, from greenhouses, tunnels and shade cloths to open field crops. Their versatility allows them to be integrated into different production strategies and work with crops with very different characteristics and pollination needs.
Additionally, they are compatible with other pollinators and beneficial insects. Hoverflies can complement the activity of bees and bumblebees thanks to their different flight behaviors and flower visiting patterns, contributing to greater flower coverage and promoting more uniform and higher quality fruit set.
This adaptability allows hoverfly pollination to be used in a wide variety of crops. Polyfly has experience in berries, subtropical fruits, vegetables and seed production, among others, in both protected and open field environments.
Avocado, blueberry, strawberry and seed production
During Fruit Attraction 2026, our team will pay special attention to pollination needs in avocado, blueberry, strawberry and seed production and crossing programs, three areas where proper pollination planning is fundamental.
In these crops, factors such as environmental conditions, the period and duration of flowering, or the production system directly influence the strategy that should be followed. Therefore, the density of hoverflies, the number of releases and the choice between QUEENFLY and GOLDFLY are determined based on the characteristics and needs of each crop.
- In avocado, pollination also plays a determining role in fruit set and production.
- Strawberry and blueberry, for example, require adequate pollination to achieve well-developed, quality fruits, especially in protected environments such as greenhouses, tunnels or shade cloths.
- Seed production is another area of specialization for Polyfly, where hoverflies can act as effective agents of cross-pollination.
